A continuation of the study of Genesis from last semester, starting in Genesis 34. Topics will include the relationship between Jacob and his children, the renaming of Jacob, and the story of Joseph and his brothers.
Whether reflecting on how God clothes the flowers with beauty, recalling how God provides food in the wilderness, or recounting a parable where workers are paid an extravagant wage for an hour's work, the Bible constantly reminds us that God is generous. In our class, we will explore several passages that reveal both God's generous heart and our struggles to live in light of his generosity. We will consider how recognizing God's generosity shapes our understanding of the gospel, challenges us to trust him more deeply, calms our anxious hearts, and equips us to reflect his generosity to others.
Creeds & Confessions
All religions and denominations have summaries of what they believe. If someone were to say to you, "I have no creed but Christ," you can respond by saying, "that is a lovely creed." Creeds and confessions cannot be avoided, and church history is filled with them (some good and some better). In this class, we will highlight a few creeds and confessions, showing how they came about and why they were (and still are) important. To listen to class recordings, CLICK HERE.
The topic of sex is one that Christians have often avoided. But our culture is steeped in it and, in many ways, is obsessed with it. As Christians, we need to not shy away from this topic but ought to see what the Bible has to say about sex, ideology, and the pursuit of sexual integrity.
